We've been transforming our small front yard for the past few years. It started with killing all the weeds and grass...the yard was pretty much taken over by Morning Glories, and covering the whole shebang with landscape cloth and mulch was the only way to stop the infestations. Last summer, we put in the circular garden surrounded by river rock (which we hauled from the river ourselves). At the end of the summer, we planted five aspen trees. This spring, the garden has thrived, with a beautiful purple butterfly bush, dozens of columbine, and a few other plants giving us beautiful blooms.
Earlier this summer, we bought a gliding bench to put in the far end of the garden, and it was crying out for an arbor. Tim built one this week...made out of wood and wrought iron panels. It looks just wonderful, and is exactly what I wanted.
I'm in the mood for smalle rprojects, as I've mentioned in previous posts. I'm almost done with the Ahlstrom bodice, and then I'm sort of open to my next 'complex' project. It might be a lace shawl, or it might be a cable sweater. We'll see. Stay tuned!
And we may have some news about a new family addition in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
