The Great Placemat Project

As I mentioned, the first of many, many placemats is on the needles.

This is a cotton blend that is no longer made, but I had some in my stash. I think it is made by Artful Fibers or artful yarns and has some fairy tale name to it. Anyway. It should be perfect for placemats.

I'm using one of my favorite stitch patterns: the linen stitch. If you need a guaranteed-flat piece of knitting, for say placemats or a shawl, this is the stitch pattern for you:

Row 1 (RS): k1, *sl1 wyif, k1; rep from *
Row 2: k1, p1, *sl1 wyib, p1; rep from *, end k1

You need an odd number of stitches, by the way.

We are off to the coast for a few days...back on Friday. No Internets. Rain promised.
