It is cold!

We just got home from walking the dogs, and it is COLD out! I am going to have to dig out a scarf because I have some tromping around campus to do today.

Here's something I've been working on---a ten-stitch baby blanket. This isn't the best yarn for it--it is a bamboo blend which is very soft but very splitty and doesn't seem to hold the shape well. I'm sure this blanket will need some embellishment before it goes off to the baby it is intended for.

I'm using two colors--the pink and the peach--as you can see here I've just switches to the peach.

Remember me?

Sorry that I haven't posted in so long--it has been busy at work, busy at home, and nothing too inspirational happening on the needles.

When we last left my knitting, I was bellyaching that I wasn't knitting anything colorful. Well, I didn't really fix it with this knit--it is a 48" tube of stockinette knit with Lion Brand Fisherman's wool. It was felted and is about to be transformed. Any idea into what?

BUT--colorful stuff is on its way.

While it isn't non-existant..

...I just haven't been knitting that much. Busy-ness at work, an uptick in some evening activities, getting ready for Tim's birthday (today) and TG, dogs, what other excuses can I give? But hopefully this weekend I can get some photos and show you some of the things I'm working on. Have a great Thanksgiving!

I've got to knit something with a little color in it

These socks: white and brown.
Hat: white
Wrap: blue and grey
Dog sweater: black

Luckily, I have yarn to start a baby blanket in pink and peach. That should do it.

I finished the coat for Comet. She seems to enjoy it, although we haven't had a walk in it yet because the weather is incredibly warm here. Where is winter?

Not much to tell you...busy-ness continues to abound.

I love falling back!

This weekend is my favorite weekend of the year. I love that extra hour of time. I love staying up kinda late last night (well, for us) and then waking up this morning with an entire day ahead of us (because honestly, if we sleep in past 8am it seems that the whole day is just off). And it is a beautiful, sunny day so we're going to take the beasts for a long walk and then take a last ride in the Miata (we think we're going to sell it, as it makes no sense for the 20 year old car to be the only garaged car in our family).

The wrap is about a third done. Zippiknits asked earlier how it was done--well, it is just two colors of yarn...blue and grey. You can see the grey stripes, and the thin blue stripes, and then alternative sections are knit holding both yarns together. The secret is on the blue stripes that for some of the sttiches, the yarn is wrapped multiple times around the needles going one way and then dropped on the next row. Those multi wrapped stitches are then slipped through the combined and the grey rows, resulting in the vertical blue stripes. Pretty nifty!

Not a fast knit, obviously, but I think it is very cool.
