Settling in

Here are my updates from Pacific City!

  • We ordered garbage pick up service for the coast. This is a big thing--it means we are really here for a while. We have been taking trash either back to Eugene (when we're here for a weekend) or to the 'transfer station' (aka the dump), where the recycling still needs to go. But we'll cancel our garbage pick up in Eugene because we won't be out there much. For a while.
  • My colleague thinks that we'll be all online through the end of the year. I worry about what this will mean for our graduate program--it was just taking off, and now it will kind of screech to a halt (oh, we'll have some people withdraw. I kind of don't blame them.
  • I am now playing yarn chicken with the ABQ sunset scarf.  You can see the amount of yarn I have left there. It looks bigger in the picture than it really is--ok I just weighed it, and it is 21 grams, so maybe I have enough?

  • I'm halfway done with the lace edging--maybe I'l do half of the half remaining and call it done.
  • I think that's it!
  • Oops no I forgot. I went to the grocery store this morning at 9am and was the only shopper there. Didn't get close to anyone til the check stand, and the checker had a plexiglass plate in front of her.  Did a good stock up and we should be good for a week.

Love the colors in that shawl. I remember taking trash to a dump in Vermont (decades ago - when I was a kid). I always loved going there (go figure...). Glad you could stock up on things. Fletch ran out today for a couple of odds and ends (he couldn't wait - i.e., was going stir crazy). School is so messed up for so many. My one boss has a son graduating this year. It is such a huge disappointment that there will be no ceremony.

See, your forgetting there at the end makes me wonder if you're a classic unreliable narrator.

I know exactly what you mean about the garbage service! We're trying to figure out if we want to head to our cottage for the WHOLE summer . . . or stay home for the WHOLE summer . . . It's a bit of a conundrum at the moment. (We've never been up there long enough to justify garbage service before.) I'm so sad about the State of Education at the moment. What a mess!

OH I AM GLAD YOU are in your happy home for a long while. Im so glad you get the peace by just being there. I LOVE your shawl. I told Fireman to just pretend we were at my dads c cabin , where there was no Tv and we didn't mind a bit!

We have lines to get into our stores. They are only allowing one shopper per aisle and if you don't follow their rules, they escort you out.
My daughter is so frustrated with her classes. They went to an "emergency grading scale" so A's, B's and C's are "P+" and a D is a "P-" and if you fail, you are automatically withdrawn without a refund. My daughter has all A's and could simply stop doing any work and still get the P+ grade so now she has absolutely no motivation.
Hope your yarn holds out!
