The second of January

We are having a stormy stormy day here, and what better to do than to change around my blog? You might notice a few things. First, I'm going to keep track of books I read and projects I finish in the sidebar.

If you read my blog yesterday, you know that New Year's Day was spent putting away the Christmas stuff. It took longer than usual because we had to cut branches off the (very very dry) tree to be able to take it out the door. There were needles everywhere. So those took forever to clean up.

NYE was fine--we were up and down a lot because of fireworks and nervous dogs. We had a lovely dinner--Tim made shrimp won tons and lobster egg rolls, and I made a pavlova for dessert.

Here are the pav shells (meringue). They look a little toasted because it took FOREVER to dry them out.

And here is the finished pavlova. I made home made creme pat (and felt very GBBS) and the blueberries and strawberries were fresh.

We watched "The Right Stuff" (not the Disney Plus remake, the original one) and we hadn't seen it for a while and enjoyed it. My friend Lauren wrote a book about Pancho Barnes (one of the real-life characters) and I haven't read that yet so that is on my list.

I got a few rows done on the sweater:

Today we'll order in some lunch and watch the Ducks play in the Fiesta Bowl. Our friend and neighbor KC is in town so we'll have her over in the party garage for a little happy hour and then probably watch a movie or something.

My classes start on Tuesday and I'm starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel!

Pavlova is on my list of things to try this winter. It's too humid here in the summer, so I need to get to it before May.
My classes start on Monday, and I am not looking forward to it.

Oh yum! The pavlova looks so good. I made that once - last year I think - and enjoyed it, but Fletch didn't care for it. How can you not like pavlova? Pretty sweater - reminds me of hte yellow blanket I made for Colin (that fook FOREVER). Happy New Year!
